We examine change on a range of scales from local and national, to international and global. You will acquire a broad range of skills that equip you well for University study and employment.

Course Content
A2 Unit 3; An issues based approach to geographical themes
For the exam student must study three of four areas. You will be taught all four.
a)Platectonics and associated hazards;Plate theory, Processes and Landforms, Vulcanicity, Impacts of volcanoes, Earthquakes, Tsunamis and their efforts.
b)Weather, Climate and associated hazardsAtmospheric circulation. The climate of Britain, tropical storms, Urban climate, Global climate change.
c)World CitiesUrbanisation, Counter-urbanisation, Urban decline, regeneration, Impact of out of town retailing, Waste management, Transport systems.
d)Development and globalisationGlobal production, Distribution and marketing, Growth in the 21st century and the North/South divide. Trade versus Aid. Sustainable tourism?
A2 Unit 4; Geographical Issues Evaluation
This allows students to use their skills of analysis, synthesis and evaluation to study a pre-set topical issue.
An information booklet is issued two months in advance.

A2 Unit 3:2 hour 30 mins exam.
