This Group 3 Humanities course is aimed at students who are interested in the environment and world issues. You do not need to have a GCSE in Geography but a concern for the future of our planet and curiosity about the processes that have produced the varying environments around the world. This course will cover physical and human geography to develop a broad understanding of the relationship between people and their environment. Geography is available at both Higher level and Standard level.

Course programme

At Standard level, you will study the core topic of Populations in Transition and Disparities in Wealth and Development. You will also study two of the optional topics from: Extreme Environments: cold environments and hot deserts Hazards and Disasters: earthquakes, volcanoes and mass movement Oceans and their Coastal Margins: oceans and coastal zones At Higher level, you will study all three topics listed above but you also cover some extension subjects. These include: Globalisation Global economic interactions Global labour flows Environmental change
