Hairdressing Apprenticeship - Level 2

You need to be between the ages of 16 and 24 and currently employed in a hairdressing salon, and wish to gain a formal qualification to progress within the industry. There are no formal entry requirements but you need to demonstrate a good level of English and effective communication skills.

You need to have excellent presentation skills, creativity and a high level of dexterity. You should be able to work as part of a team, be interested in meeting people, able to use own initiative, have excellent stamina and have enthusiasm and passion for the subject. You will also need to have a successful interview.

Subjects covered will include: advise and consult with clients; practical skills - cutting, colouring and styling, and related theory; retail promotions and aftercare; health and safety; employment rights and responsibilities; personal learning and thinking skills, and a Functional Skill in English or Maths as necessary.

You will be working at your place of employment and you will be required to attend College for day release or for short workshops.

The scheme is work based and involves proving practical competence through regular visits and assessments by an appointed Assessor.

On successful completion of the programme you will achieve a Level 2 NVQ in Hairdressing after which you could go on to achieve the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship.
