This qualification focuses on advanced plumbing skills and knowledge. Successful completion of the qualification will ensure that the learner will have gained an understanding of the core skills and knowledge required by a plumber working within the plumbing sector. The qualification does not require occupational evidence. Satisfactory completion of studies will lead to the Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Plumbing.

Course Content

The course covers:

  • How to organise resources within the building services environment)
  • Domestic cold water system installation, commissioning, service and maintenance techniques
  • Domestic hot water system installation, commissioning, service and maintenance techniques
  • Domestic central heating system installation, commissioning, service and maintenance techniques
  • Domestic sanitation system installation, commissioning, service and maintenance techniques
  • The fundamental principles and requirements of environmental technology systems

NOTE: As part of your programme of study, there is an expectation that you undertake a timetabled work placement or experience block of learning, this is designed to enable you to gain experience of the industry.


Method of Study

There will be a combination of classroom based theory, on line assessment and classroom assessment. As well as workshop based practical assessment.

On-going assessment will take place throughout the course. All assessments within this qualification are externally set (by EAL), centre marked assignments and practical assessments.
