2. Course description The BTEC Level 3 Diploma requires successful completion of 11 units. The programme consists of six essential core units (which must be studied) and optional units, which you can select to suit your own career plans (Dependent on student numbers.) Core units: Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace; Communications for Technicians; Engineering Project; Mathematics for Technicians; Electrical and Electronic Principles; Mechanical Principles; Specialist units: Properties and Applications of Engineering Materials; Further Mechanical Principles; Mechanical Measurement & Inspection Techniques; Primary Forming Processes; Further Mathematics for Technicians.
