You will gain an understanding of cereal planting from plough to seedbed, silaging from cutting, chopping and carting, and experience the widest range of stock tasks, from the day stock are born to the day they are sold. You will also enjoy a range of trips to various national shows and demonstrations. Students can gain certification in two of the following certificates of competence: telehandler, tractor driving, ATV, pesticides, shearing and chainsaw.

Agriculture can involve much more than farming. There are approximately 200 different career areas in agriculture and people qualified in this diverse sector are often welcomed by other industries because of their broad education, skills, training and experience.
This course is based on an integration of theoretical and practical lectures backed up by work experience. You will gain experience in a range of agricultural-based activities through practical work and work experience. It will allow you to either progress to higher education courses or move into employment.
Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma in Agriculture (equivalent to 3 A levels)

You will cover a diverse range of topics throughout your course. A selection of unit titles is shown below.
Assessment is continuous, with assignments, projects and practical work. This course includes 300 hours of work experience through the duration of the course.
