Master in Risk Assessment and Risk Analysis
Objectives
The Master aims at developing a new common European curriculum for post-graduate education and training in Risk Assessment and Risk Analysis. It provides a special qualification in human and environmental risk assessment, risk analysis and risk management of chemical, biological and physical hazards in accordance with the new REACH European legislation.
Governments, agencies, industry and the private sectors are in increasing demand of qualified professionals. Risk assessment is required for an ever increasing range of commercial products and processes as well as for environmental contaminants.
The Master is addressed to graduates and professionals wishing to specialise and take up a career in Risk Assessment and Risk Analysis.
Mode of delivery
theoretical lectures, exercises, work groups, seminars, guided visits to laboratories and institutions operating in the field of risk assessment and risk analysis;
practical training at European public institutions and universities, international organizations, or private companies;
Lectures and other didactic activities will take place mainly in Milan at "Vialba LITA" Campus of the University of Milan at the University Hospital “Luigi Sacco”.
Field visits and practical trainings will be organized throughout Europe at scientific Institutions, agencies or companies leader in the sector of agro-chemical products.
Courses are delivered by leading European experts in Risk Assessment and Risk Analysis.

The Didactic Programme of the Course will be structured into the following modules:

Occupational exposure
Indoor and outdoor air pollutants
Water and soil pollutants
Pesticides and biocides
Food additives and contaminants
Chemicals in consumer products
Emergent biological hazards
Genetically modified organisms
Practical training includes
performance of risk assessment for workers, operators, consumers, environment;
case studies for substances of interest;
literature surveys on subjects related to risk assessment;
assessment of dossiers prepared for registration.
Thesis
Master course students will have to prepare a thesis work to be defended at the final examination.
