Course content:

Content: This course provides you with the knowledge and skills to embark on a career in hairdressing.
You will explore such topics as:

• Shampooing and conditioning
• Perming and neutralising
• Hair-up
• Plaiting
• Blow-drying
• Setting
• Styling and finishing techniques
• Some colouring techniques

Qualification:
NVQ Level 1 Hairdressing. Equivalent to 4 GCSEs at grades
D-G.
Could lead to:
NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing or employment within the hairdressing industry.
Entry Requirements:
You will need to demonstrate an interest in hairdressing and that you have the potential to be a successful hairdresser. You will probably be following a GCSE programme at school and be prepared to undertake work experience in hairdressing in year 11. You will need to show
us that you can behave in a safe, sensible and customer-friendly way whilst you work in the salon. You will also need to demonstrate the literacy and numeracy skills you will need for work at this level.
