Course Content: This is a work-related qualification which is designed to prepare students for a career in Bookkeeping and Office Administration. The course will provide you with skills in bookkeeping accounting payroll and computer applications. It is an ideal first course for anyone wishing to pursue a career in accounting. You will gain broad understanding of Accounting, covering units such as Recording Income and Receipts; Making and Recording Payments; Preparing Ledger balances and an Initial Trial Balance; Supplying information for Management Control; and Working with Information Technology.

Special Features: Various teaching and learning methods are used on the course including project work practical work case studies assignments and group work.

Course Format: Attendance is required on 3 days per week. In order to help students with family commitments lessons start at 9 a.m. and finish no later than 4 p.m.

A period of relevant work experience is provided as part of the course. The course is assessed by an external examination. On completion you will be awarded an NVQ Level 2 in Accounting which is a nationally recognised qualification.

Progression: Having successfully completed this course you can then completed the NVQ Level 3 in Accounting, available at the college.
