What is this course about?
English language development with Office Practice skills.

What do I need to get on the course?
To have completed ESOL Entry 3. Your Literacy /Numeracy and IT skills will be assessed.

What will I study?
You will practise office tasks as well as studying English, office IT skills, and carrying out work placements, which will be particularly helpful in an administration job, or to help you find work. Over the course you will build up a portfolio and be assessed by the OCR Examinations Board, and you will also prepare for the City & Guilds National Literacy Test at Level 1 at the end of the courseâ€" if you are ready.

What can I do after the course?
You can progress to employment, business courses or further ESOL courses as advised

How do I get on the course?
Come into the Centre where you want to study to make an appointment to have your level of English assessed. Monday to Thursday, 10 am â€" 5 pm, Friday 10 am to 1 pm.

Current candidates will be invited to attend an assessment interview.

How much does the course cost?
ESOL courses are free if you are on income-based benefits, e.g. income support or housing benefit.
If you are not on benefit but are on a low income, you may also get help with fees. General information about the cost of ESOL courses is available in the following languages: Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, English, Farsi, French, Greek, Gujurati, Hindi, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Somali, Spanish, Tamil, Turkish, Urdu, and Vietnamese. When you enrol, you need to bring

· Evidence of your status in the UK - eg your passport or Home Office letter

· Evidence of your income if you are claiming concessions - your wage slips, benefit letter or National Asylum Support Service (NASS) letter.

If you need to pay fees, these depend on the length of course and can range from about £200 for a Saturday course to £1000 for a fulltime course. You will be advised of the exact fee after assessment has determined the appropriate course for you.
