Is the course for me?
The 2D level 3 intermediate CAD course is ideally suited to candidates who have already gained the 2D Level 2 qualification and wish to progress their knowledge of AutoCAD further. You will learn in an informal friendly environment developing your knowledge and skills in the use of AutoCAD. Once considered ready for assessment you will undertake an appropriate test. If however, a candidate is unsuccessful in any of the tests they can retake it 7 days later.
What will I learn?
On completion of the course the candidate will be able to: Use associated IT, CAD hardware and operating systems. Use file management techniques and understand the different file types used within the CAD environment. Maintain health and safety requirements. Use and identify key components of the drawing software and control system settings relating to the 2D drawing environment. Use layouts to control the scale & printed output of drawings. Use more advanced drawing methods to produce detail drawings, prototype (template) drawings, Isometric (pictorial) drawings and build up assembly drawings using the layout environment. Use and edit references as appropriate to create a completed drawing. Use attributed blocks to attach information to a drawing. Use more advanced dimensioning routines. Control visualisation using more advanced layer methods to produce professional looking output.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by completing 2 Practical assignments. Assignment 1 consisting of 3 tasks and lasting 4 hours in total. Assignment 2 consisting of 1 task and lasting 3.5 hours. You will also need to successfully complete a multi choice theory test (on-line).
What can I do after the course?
You can progress onto the 3D CAD or find work within the industry.

There are no specific entry requirements to enrol on this course, however learning or experience are required for candidates undertaking this qualification. The course tutor will need to make an initial assessment of any candidate without a level 2 CAD qualification to ensure that the level of the scheme is appropriate. The nature of both the learning and assessment required for the qualification is such that candidates will need basic literacy and numeracy skills: i.e. the ability to read and interpret written tasks.
