Is this course right for me?

This is a fun course that teaches you the basics required to bath and groom a range of common dog breeds. It will cover the health and safety, grooming set up, techniques to groom your dog to a professional standard.

What will I be learning?

There are three units which provide the background knowledge and practical skills to be able to bath and groom a range of common dog breeds in a professional and safe manner. The units are:

• 201 The dog grooming work environment - outlines the necessary facilities and
  equipment. Considers the required health and safety that should be in place for humans
  and animals.

• 202 Prepare dogs for bathing - investigates products available, dog behaviour and the preparation of the work area.

• Bath, dry and prepare for styling - teaches the practicalities of bathing, drying and how to style a range of common dog breeds.

How will I learn?

This course is very practical and you will have the opportunity to observe a professional dog groomer then practise your skills under their supervision. You will also undertake some theory lectures.

What else might I want to know?

This course is also offered in conjunction with the ABC Certificate in Small Animal Care for full time students.

What can I do afterwards?

Put your skills into practice - bathing/grooming your own and family's pets! Alternatively you could apply your new skills in the industry, start up you own grooming business or consider a further course.
