Is this course right for me?

This course is suitable for those working as an Engineer, who wish to gain an industry recognised qualification in Engineering which meets national occupation standards.

What will I be learning?

You will be assessed in a machine shop environment where you will demonstrate a level of competent in the use of a wide variety of precision equipment, showing an understanding of the properties of materials and conducting several workshop experiments using ferrous and non ferrous metals. This is a work based qualification.

How will I learn?

You will be assessed in the workplace by a fully qualified assessor who will offer guidance, support and instruction as required. You will complete a portfolio of practical evidence, written assignments and underpinning knowledge tests.

What else might I want to know?

In order to complete this qualification you will need a suitable work placement. The suitability of the work placement will be checked by one of our trained assessors.

What can I do afterwards?

Progression to a Level 3 NVQ Engineering qualification.
