About this course
The course aims to enable understudies to: Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation for the history of psychology (History of Psychology).
Outline the minimal standards of ethical approval by the British Psychological Society and discuss how these standards apply to modern research in psychology (Research Ethics)
Discuss the demarcation problem with specific focus on the location of psychology with regards to the boundary between science and pseudoscience (Demarcation)
Discuss the progression of scientific knowledge and understanding (Scientific Progression)
Discuss the importance of hypothesis testing (Hypothesis Testing)
This BSc Psychology is the broadest degree option we offer so is suitable for students who want to follow any of the main psychological professions (clinical psychology, educational psychology, counselling psychology, health psychology, etc). In addition, there are careers open to graduates and postgraduates from any discipline. These include, for example, careers in management training, accountancy, teaching, nursing, social work, the police and the armed forces
Our typical offer for the MSci is 340 points / AAB grades or equivalent. Applicants must have a relevant Science A2 Maths, Biology, Human Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, Psychology and Science. General Studies and Key Skills are excluded. GCSE Mathematics and English at Grade C is required.
We give full recognition to alternative qualifications, including the International Baccalaureate, BTEC, NVQ (level 3) and GNVQ (Advanced).
