Safeguarding Children and Young People
The minimum age for this qualification is 18. The qualification is ideal for those who work in an environment where there is direct contact with children. This includes youth workers, care workers, local authority staff, school support staff and voluntary workers.
What does the course involve?
This course involves studying three units which focus on various aspects of safeguarding children: Unit 1: Explore and understand roles in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, Unit 2: Understand legislation and policies which safeguard children and young people, Unit 3: Develop personal skills to effectively contribute to the safeguarding of chidren and young people.
What will I study?
Unit 1; Explore and understand roles in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The aim of this unit is to give learners the opportunity to explore the definition of safeguarding children and young people and to identify the different ways in which children and young people can be harmed.
Unit 2; Understand legislation and policies which safeguard children and young people. The aim of this unit is to give learners an overview of the different legislation and policies which safeguard children and young people.
Unit 3: Develop personal skills to effectively contribute to the safeguarding of children and young people. The aim of this unit is to give learners a wider understanding of the role and value that parents and carers can have in supporting their children to achieve positive outcomes.

Yes. Your job role should involve working with children or young people in some capacity.

Do I need any previous safeguarding knowledge?
Knowledge of multi-agency and CAF procedures would be an advantage.
