Teaching Assistant
Who Should Attend?
The Level 2 & 3 NVQ Teaching Assistants
are work-based qualifications for those who work with teachers in
classrooms supporting the learning process in primary, secondary and
special schools. This includes those with a general support role and those
with specific responsibilities for a pupil, subject areas or age groups.
Why
Attend?
It is designed for those who are new to the role of
teaching assistant and whose responsibilities are limited in scope. The
teaching assistants work under the direction of the teacher, whether in
the whole class or on their own with an individual or small group of
pupils.
Qualification Framework
Teaching Assistants,
Level 2: 7 Units required; 4 mandatory units plus 3 from 5 optional units.
Teaching
Assistants, Level 3: 10 Units required; 4 mandatory units plus 3 from 19
optional units. The optional units are in 4 groups and candidates must
include 1 unit from each group plus any 2 others.
Course Duration
The
time frame for the course is between 12 to 18 months, but we plan to
complete it within 12 months.
Assessment
City &
Guilds external Exam and Portfolio Assessment.
After the Course..
Candidates
who are successful on one or more units will get a certificate of units
Credit. Where appropriate a full NVQ certificate is issued once they have
completed all the units necessary for a particular level.
