Unit 822 - Safe entry with escape breathing apparatus and self rescue procedures

Overview
The course will comply with the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 so that candidates are able to:

• carry out the appropriate personal protection and hygiene requirements
• risk assess current and changing hazards
• use permit to work control measure
• verify types of gaseous atmosphere, using and interpreting portable gas monitoring equipment
• correctly use of harness tripod/man-riding winch, fall arrest and safety line
• carry out safe entry working and exit procedures in confined spaces
• correctly use of escape breathing apparatus as part of a self rescue procedure
• carry out appropriate emergency procedures and practical exercises
• use knowledge and skill assessment exercise for planning, entering, working and exiting confined spaces using escape breathing apparatus as a part of the planned means for self rescue

Suitable For
Candidates who are required to plan, enter, work and exit confined spaces categories NC 2, 3 and 4 including via a vertical shaft and where escape and working breathing apparatus are part of the planned means of self rescue.
