About this course

After completing the course students should be able to describe and justify the choice of surface equipment, the composition of the drill string and drill bit for various operational conditions. In addition they should be able to describe the function and application of drilling instruments and interpret the signals from instruments used under varying operational conditions. Students will also be able to explain the different drilling reports compiled during operations.

Completion of common course subjects – Level 1 – or equivalent qualifications are recommended.

This web based course is in accordance with the guidelines from The Norwegian Oil Industry Association and covers the official Norwegian syllabus for Technical College, Petroleum Technology Faculty. The course is equivalent to 74 hours of normal tuition in this subject.
