Overview
This 3 week course is for new entrants to the gas industry but only for those who do not need any training at all with regards to pipe-work or site skills – Qualified plumbers and alike are suitable candidates for this course, those who can easily demonstrate that they have dealt with copper pipe and low carbon steel in their normal working activities. Weekend training is also available to complete this course.

Access and entry to the Gas industry has previously been known to be a long-drawn-out process, typically taking at least 2 years. However, there are now quicker ways to access the gas industry and there is no longer the requirement to spend years at College before even being considered for the industry.

How You’ll Learn

Domestic Gas Safety Training – Bpec Foundation Certificate

This comprehensive managed learning programme covers all aspects of domestic gas work and gas safety which will prepare you for working on various gas appliances. This new entrant's gas training course is a real mix of workshop and classroom study to ensure that all aspects of domestic gas and related appliances are covered.

Progress is monitored with regular practical and written assessments and all evidence is recorded and retained for any Governing body to view at any time; these strict control methods safeguard all candidates and assessors and ensure that accurate, quality Gas training is delivered.

Training to achieve this Bpec Foundation Certificate is a requirement to ensure knowledge of changes to legislation, British Standards and industry best practice. If you come under the category of New Entrant, this is the correct and recognised route to take to get you started.

Courses Open To You After

Once this training has been completed successfully, you will need to prove competence working under the supervision of a Gas Safe registered Engineer. You will be required to complete a portfolio (provided by Able Skills) detailing the various jobs you have undertaken, supported by photographic evidence and signed by your Gas Safe registered Engineer.

Able Skills can offer you a placement (please call for details) or you can source this yourself but whichever you choose, you will have Able Skills portfolio to complete and access to our Gas Instructors for guidance and support.

Once this has been achieved, you will then need to return to Able Skills to undertake your formal gas assessments (ACS): CCN1 (Core Gas Safety) and Appliances.

Able Skills can arrange all aspects of training, portfolio and assessments for you and they are all available individually.
