· Course Overview: · Research has shown a steadily rising demand for qualified accounting technicians, and the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) is the market leader in this field. Employees with the Diploma are able to demonstrate that they have studied at degree level, and have the necessary financial skills to operate at a high level within a wide range of organisations. The AAT is the UKs largest awarding body of skills-based qualifications and this is widely recognised by employers, both within the UK and overseas. After completing the Diploma, you could go directly on to the second year of an appropriate degree course - or you could gain exemption from the first level of the professional accountancy qualifications (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA). On the course, you will learn how to prepare the final accounts for limited companies and perform complex management accounting tasks. In addition, you will develop your management skills, by completing a research project based on improvements to an accounting system in your workplace. This level includes a choice of specialist units, which means that you can focus your efforts on the areas of accounting most relevant to your needs and interests. Entry to this course requires that you are already a member of the AAT. The core units comprise: Managing systems and people in the accounting environment (unit10) Drafting financial statements (unit 11) Managing performance and resources (units 8 & 9) The option Units comprise: Personal taxation (unit 19) Business taxation (unit 18) Cash and credit management control (unit 15)
