Description of the Course
This level 1 qualification covers the basic technical needs for today's motor vehicle repair industry. It provides essential knowledge for service technicians working on light vehicles (cars and vans) in all types of garages, dealership and maintenance depots. It is a learning programme which involves students studying both theory and practical aspects of the following

· Health & Safety for Motor Vehicle studies
· Introduction to engineering, equipment and materials
· Introduction to braking, steering and suspension systems
· Introduction to wheel, tyre and exhaust systems
· Introduction to vehicle electrical systems

· Motor Vehicle Practical
· Motor Vehicle Theory

Assessment

· Observation of practical work
· written assessment
· oral assessments

Who is the course for?
Students currently attending local schools, years 10 & 11 wishing to undertake vocational training.
Entry requirements
Interest in the chosen vocational course. Entry will be subject to an application and interview to demonstrate that you have the enthusiasm and willingness to succeed on the course.
