Course programme

The accents mentioned above plus exercises to strengthen articulation, improve focus and compare with own accent and others. It may be possible to take requests for particular accents depending on the number of students.

Theory and practise including detailed breakdown and analysis of each accent, including phonetics. Some prior knowledge of phonetics is therefore useful but not essential. Each accent is applied to relevant text. There will be no homework set for formal submission but you are expected to devote some time each week to practising at home with the provided recordings to reinforce the new accents you have learnt. As part of the course content, your tutor may record your image for initial and ongoing assessment purposes. You are entitled to decline to participate in the recording of your image.
