Course programme
You will study a number of different modules which will be made up of mandatory subjects. You will also undertake a number of core academic subjects that are designed to prepare you for the demands of higher level study. These are common to all Access pathways, with an emphasis on critical thinking, the techniques of written and spoken presentation and research skills.

Entry requirements- You must be at least 19 years of age to enrol on an Access to HE course.
- You must have two GCSEs at grade C from the following: maths, English or science (GCSE equivalent qualifications will not be accepted).
You may also complete GCSE science alongside the Access programme if necessary.

This course is eligible for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan
The 24+ Advanced Learning Loan is a new scheme introduced by the government to help mature learners study for qualifications that will improve their employability and develop high level skills and knowledge.
Loans are specifically designed for those aged 24 and over, who are intending to study on a Level 3 or higher course – including Access to HE diplomas.
Best of all, if you successfully go on to complete an HE qualification following an Access to HE course – you won’t even have to pay the loan back.

How long is the course?Our Access to HE courses can be studied within one academic year – up to 450 hours of class time.
Location- Derby Road
You will be assessed on the assignments which are set regularly throughout the course. Some of these assignments will be completed under exam conditions but most will be completed in your own time.
What does the course lead to?There are a range of nursing training courses available to progress onto including:
- BSc (Hons) Nursing (choice of adult, child or mental health specialisms)
- Midwifery
