ACCESS Planning
Who is it for?
Anyone who wants the opportunity to review their career and education position. The ACCESS Planning period is helpful for those students wishing to go on to the full-time ACCESS to Higher Education course.
What will I do?
Students will take part in a 'Return to Learning' package of Numeracy, Communication, Study Skills, IT, Presentation Skills and a package of 'tasters' : Psychology, Sociology, English Literature and Human Biology.
Careers advice
Students have access to careers advice, using materials designed for adult students, including consultation with a professional careers adviser.
Study skills
This helps students to develop general communication and number skills, and gives them the opportunity to take part in group discussions. It will also help students identify possible further educational routes.
What qualifications will I gain?
The course is validated by the nationally recognised Open College Network Eastern Region (OCNER). Students receive a certificate and a Student Credit Record detailing the content and level of their achievement.
Assessment
If students wish to be considered for assessment they will have to produce a personal statement and a written investigation into a subject of their choice, all presented in a portfolio.
Progression
Access to Higher Education Diploma.
How long is the course?
One day a week for 12 weeks
9.30am-3.00pm (with a â€-flexible†last hour to enable students who need to collect children from school to do so).
