2. Course description Do you want to start on the path to a successful career in accountancy? Do you want to develop a good, solid understanding of finance in business, but don't have any previous experience or qualifications? If so, then this fully accredited AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting is the course for you. This Level 2 course is the first stage of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification pathway, and will introduce you to a range of essential accounting principles, including double entry bookkeeping, basic costing procedures, sales ledgers and computerised accounting. You'll look at transactions and controls and use a variety of accountancy software, all the while developing the skills and abilities you'll need to work effectively in the finance industry.

Entry requirements There are no formal entry requirements for this course, and it's ideal for anyone wanting to gain an in-depth understanding of the accounting world - whether you're just starting out or progressing from an AAT Access course. You will be assessed to check your foundational English and Mathematics skills, along with a brief accounting assessment and a short interview to check your interest and enthusiasm. If you have a criminal record or have been made bankrupt, we would advise you to contact AAT directly for advice, as they may not accept members with these circumstances. 4. Equipment required No equipment required 5. Assessment method During this AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting, your work will be assessed through a mix of examinations and computer based projects. Following the introduction of the new AQ016 standard, there will now also be a Synoptic Assessment as part of the course.
