Course description The course consists of a number of units: The AS examinations assess Units 1 and 2 and the A2 examinations assess Units 3 and 4.Unit 1 Introduction to Financial Accounting- Purposes of accounting subsidiary books and ledger accounts final accounts and verification of accounting records income statements and balance sheets.Unit 2 Financial Management and Accounting- Types of organisation ratio analysis accounting concepts ICT in accounting financial statements of sole traders and limited companies and introduction to budgeting. Unit 3 Further Aspects of Financial Accounting- Sources of finance incomplete records stock valuation partnership accounts published accounts of limited companies and international accounting standards.Unit 4 Further Aspects of Management Accounting- Manufacturing accounts marginal absorption and activity based costing standard costing and variance analysis capital investment appraisal further budgeting and social accounting.

Equipment required No equipment required 5. Assessment method All of the units in both years are assessed by external examinations. The AS exams both last for one hour and thirty minutes. The A2 exams both last for two hours.
