In Year 1 you will cover the business and legal environments in which accounting and finance operate. You'll study economics, organisational behaviour, law, quantitative analysis and develop your IT skills. You'll also be introduced to the basics of financial accounting and bookkeeping. Alongside your taught modules you'll begin your Business Readiness Programme. Then you'll start your further study on Financial Reporting and Management Accounting.
In Years 2 and 3 there is a focus on the three main areas of accounting and finance: financial accounting, management accounting and finance. You can also study Auditing or Enterprise Finance and Management. You will develop technical expertise and your ability to apply and evaluate theoretical concepts and ideas.

About this course
This module consists of up to 44 weeks of employability and personal skills training, designed to prepare you for your placement and to improve your employability after graduation. You will experience a wide range of opportunities to enhance your skills, ensure you make the most of your potential, gain the best possible internship, and give you an edge in the job market after graduation.
You will have the opportunity to study a foreign language, free of charge, during your time at the University on a not-for-credit basis as part of the Kingston Language Scheme. Options currently include: Arabic, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

GCSE: Candidates are normally required to hold five GCSE subjects grades A–C including Mathematics and English Language (or comparable numeric score under the newly reformed GCSE grading).
The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) are leading professional membership bodies that uphold high ethical and professional standards to maintain public confidence in accountancy.
The content of this course has recently been reviewed to ensure it is kept up to date and in line with industry needs. Consequently, we are currently re-applying to both ACCA and ICAEW to continue to obtain professional exemptions.
