You will work on voice techniques specifically aimed at actors at the start of their training. Working on breath and articulation exercises, Shakespeare and verse speaking, you will become grounded in a foundation of text delivery and vocal technique to achieve this.

About this course

Select from a number of vocal exercises to develop your instrument.
Identify the importance of breath and articulation exercises for voicing text.
Deliver different texts using the skills acquired.

Course programme

* Breath control and clear articulation.
* Correct vocal placement in delivering text
* Finding range and agility in performing through voice.

Please note that acting classes by their very nature can involve exercises and the exploration of material that some students may find challenging.

This will be primarily practical. Some homework preparation in text being worked on may be required, but will be limited. As part of the course content, your tutor may record your image for initial and ongoing assessment purposes. You are entitled to decline to participate in the recording of your image.

Additional information

You can progress on to any Actor's Voice Beginners or Improvers classes or Acting: Improvers. You can audition for entry to the 1 year Foundation in Drama course.
