Fast Track, Foundation and Production Course

This is an unique and comprehensive drama course for students who wish to develop their theatre skills (voice, speech and presentation), and gain confidence, poise and personality in performance.

It is a twelve week course, with classes held every Wednesday from 7.00pm - 10.00pm.

This is a starter course for those with little or no previous Drama Course or Theatre Skills experience. It is of particular benefit to the student who would like to improve on talent or gain more confidence, develop poise and personality and improve communication skills as well as acting ability.

The Syllabus includes

Voice Production
Voice Production is an important part of this course. Exercises for relaxation, breathe control, resonance and diction will be given at the beginning of each class. Students will be asked to cope with difficult classical texts, requiring skilled breath control and clear diction. Back-up exercise sheets will be given for routine voice work at home.

Improvisation
These lessons will be carefully structured to build up the student's confidence and at the same time develop creativity. Here also, we will be using improvisation to support text and discover how it may be used in play-making.

Sight Reading
Students will be taught to cope with radio, television and theatre scripts, develop narrative skills and presentation techniques.

Work on Text
This will include working on classical and modern plays, both in group and individual presentation speeches.

Audition and Examination Technique
Students will be advised on selection and presentation of three contrasting audition pieces - one of these to be Shakespeare or other classical - which will show them to their best advantage. Techniques learnt here will assist students on becoming better actors and actresses.

Students are encouraged to enter for the Academy Examinations, held in london

At the end of each term, there will be a Student Showcase with an informal presentation of student's work.
