Modules
- Module 6: CBT interventions for the development of resilience and flourishing
Concepts of resilience in the face of adversity and flourishing will be explored and you'll develop your own personal model of resilience (PMR) which you can then learn to develop in your clients. - Module 7: Research in health and social care
For those wishing to pursue the MSc pathway this module can replace or can be taken in addition to the module 'Classic and metacognitive approaches for the treatment of complex presentations'. It is delivered twice a year in September and February and you can elect to take it on a Monday or a Wednesday morning. It can be taken concurrently with Modules 4-6 in the PgDip curriculum. The purpose of this unit is to consolidate and extend your knowledge of research philosophies, approaches and methods. You'll learn about research design, methods of data gathering and data analysis and interpretation. Specific research methods and techniques are reviewed, including the use of questionnaires, interviews and observation to gather data, as are the techniques to analyse quantitative and qualitative data. - Module 8: Dissertation
The dissertation unit provides you with the opportunity to experience designing, conducting and writing up a research study to add to the research base in positive CBT, particularly in the fields of resilience and flourishing. A research supervisor will support this work. You'll require ethical approval for your study. Beyond the scope of the dissertation unit, you'll be encouraged to disseminate and publish your work.
All modules are assessed by a mix of case studies, audio tapes and self-reflective essays.
