About this course

City & Guilds 2D 2303 certificate or any other Level 2 computer aided draughting qualification is a mandatory requirement for entry to the programme. You also need a basic level of Maths and English. If you need help with your English, the College can provide you with support at a time to suit you, which will bring you up to the required standard.

Introduction:
This course has a strong practical content and aims to provide students with a working knowledge of industrial computer aided draughting systems, and to significantly reduce the time needed to become competent on any computer aided draughting system. The course can be adapted via varied project work to compliment almost any engineering discipline such as Mechanical engineering design, Architectural design, Construction etc

Study Mode & Location:
This one year course which lasts for 3.5 hours per week will be held at Preston College, Fulwood Campus, St Vincent`s Road, Preston, PR2 8UR.

Course Content:
The course includes the following units:

  • Extraction of Data to Database.
  • Improving Performance (Hardware Enhancement).
  • Improving Performance (Software Features).
  • 3D wire frame.
  • Surface Modelling.


Assessment:
Assessment is continual and assessment decisions are based on course work and practical tasks and projects relating to the student`s engineering background or discipline. A small multi choice style paper is used to assess theory.

Students can progress from this course to relevant employment.
