This course is designed to further develop your academic, practical and research skills and knowledge in the engineering environment. This broad based course allows you to investigate the impact and use of engineering in a range production, industrial and commercial settings. This course is offered by Weston College in collaboration with the North Somerset consortium of schools.

The topics you will study include:

· Computer aided design applications
· Selection and application of engineering materials
· Instrumentation and control engineering
· Maintenance of plant, equipment and systems
· Modern manufacturing techniques
· Innovative design and enterprise
· Mathematical techniques for engineers
· Engineering science.

The course will also develop your analytical, research, problem-solving and interpersonal skills and will help you develop a thorough awareness of a variety of engineering contexts. You will research, design, develop, implement and review engineering
systems to solve real life problems for actual businesses.

During the course you will have the opportunity to achieve additional
qualifications in English and Maths as well as specialist engineering
subjects.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed continuously during the course through a range of assignments, work-related research and investigations. You will be
involved in real life engineering projects that are linked to local
business needs.
