Course programme

Specific course content includes:

  • Risk models and models for change
  • Triggers for issues in home visits
  • How to identify problems before they happen

During the course you will spend two days at our High Wycombe Campus and one day at an adapted house in Maidenhead, which will provide you with the opportunity to interact with actors in real-life scenarios which are recorded and played back for feedback and evaluation purposes.

'This is an innovative training package that addresses a key part of social work - the home visit. Social workers are rarely given the opportunity to explore their home visiting skills, even though the home visit is the central part of social work. Using actors for the home visit sessions creates a greater sense of reality for role playing, and helps the attendees learn from their experience. I recommend this course for those social workers that are unsure about their skills, or wish to develop already good practice. Organisations, such as local authorities, will find this programme useful for developing the standard of practice of their social workers.'
