ADVANCED POWERBOAT COURSE

Provides the skills and background knowledge needed by powerboat drivers operating in coastal waters, in more demanding conditions. Preparation, passage planning, fuel & engine checks, meteorology, boat handling techniques & manoeuvres, high speed boat handling, power trims & trim tabs, advanced manoeuvres, use of GPS & Decca, high speed navigation, manoeuvring in rough weather, pilotage by day & night, emergency situations.

Assumed knowledge: Candidates should be competent to the standard of National Powerboat Certificate Level 2 (coastal) with a knowledge of navigation and chartwork to the level of Day Skipper Shorebased certificate. It is strongly recommended that candidates hold a First Aid certificate and a VHF operators certificate.
