Course programme
Artistic and archaeological evidence for diplomatic, trading and cultural relations with the civilisations of Crete, Mycenae and the Levant. Diplomatic correspondence suggests rebellion and the disintegration of empire. The death of the heir transmits the succession to a prince who will initiate a traumatic revolution in the Nile Valley. Meanwhile architects and craftsmen lead Egypt to ever greater heights of artistic achievement. Egypt create some of the finest paintings from the ancient world. The reign is concluded by a magnificent burial in the Valley of the Kings.
