Introduction to course
If you are interested in the past and how it can help us to make some sense of the present, then you will enjoy the study of History. Our top priority is to enable you to engage fully with this exciting and dynamic subject. and we will support you as you develop the study skills.necessary for you to become an independent land confident earner.,.You will have the opportunity to work with a range of historical sources with the aim of achieving a top grade. We always value the routine student feedback which we receive. This year's formal learner questionnaire indicated that our students were very happy with our general approach to teaching and learning.However,we are always ready to listen to your ideas about the classroom experience.

Course Details
A & AS History The A and AS courses consist of two modules each. At AS Level you will study twentieth-century Britain 1906-51and a module of Chinese history entitled 'The impact of Chairman Mao 1946-76'. At A2 you will learn about the development of Germany from 1945-1991. This starts with postwar division and ends with the reunification of the two German states founded in 1949. The second module is an individual research project and you will be expected to write an extended essay in answer to a question about a set period of Russian history. We have organised several successful study trips to Berlin in order to enhance the learning of students studying post-war Germany and hope to give future students this same opportunity. We have also visited the Cabinet War Rooms and Churchill Museum as support for the AS Britain unit Master Classes Many students have been able to gain an insight into university study thanks to this scheme which has allowed them to work closely with lecturers from Queen Mary, University of London .

Where the course lead
You can study History and other humanities subjects at university. Many of our students have successfully gained places at top universities, such as Oxford, Cambridge, the London School of Economics and University College.The skills you gain from learning History are transferable to a range of careers e.g. journalism,the civil service and the law.

This course combines well with
Other Humanities subjects and English. Many students also study History alongside Science subjects.

Course Assessment
You will be assessed via external examination in January and June of the AS year and June of the A2 year.
