ANGER MANAGEMENT (1 DAY COURSE)

Anger is an emotional state that varies in intensity from mild irritation to intense fury and rage. Like other emotions, it is accompanied by physiological and biological changes; when we get angry our heart rate goes up, our blood pressure goes up, as does our energy levels, hormones, and adrenaline. Anger is an emotion and one that can lead to many social difficulties. It gains its fair share of attention.

ABOUT THE COURSE
When managing anger with children and teenagers it is crucial that professionals have good strategies and understand the theoretical basis that will enable the best outcomes for the child. If the professional understands the theory then there is a basis for improving relationships and helping the child deal with the underlying reason for the anger. This one day course is suitable for all childcare professionals at every professional level within social services, health, education, early years, youth offending teams, fostering and adoption, private and voluntary sectors, community, and the police, who work with children and families. This course has been developed following extensive practical experience of working with children of all ages, over many years, where anger is often the only way they know of expressing their feelings.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES
On completion of this course participants will:

  • Understand that within all humans it is possible to build up anger over long periods of time and we will explore how that impacts on everyone.
Gain knowledge of the theory that supports ways to release the build up of anger and stop outbursts.
Gain a better understanding of anger and gain techniques for the management of angry young people either within school, the home or within the community.

  • Understand the importance of positive relationships particularly when a child has problems with anger as a product of their life experiences during or throughout childhood.

  • Understand the significance that professionals can have on a child’s life; professionals can either have a positive or a negative impact.

  • Gain knowledge of forms of communication that are helpful to the angry child.

On completion of the course delegates are provided with course materials and are awarded a certificate. The training will commence at 9:30am and finish at 3:30pm. This course runs with a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 25 delegates.
