The aim of this course is to provide uniformity of training to a recognised standard and to provide selected personnel with the knowledge and skills needed to carry out the duties of the Appointed Person as defined in BS7121 Part 1 and BS7121 Part 3.
Course Objectives
On successful completion of this course candidates will know:
- The requirements of the legislation regarding Mobile Cranes
- The terminology used to identify component parts
- The safe setting up of the crane and its equipment for the lifting operation
- Will be able to identify the purpose and capacity of lifting tackle in general use for lifting
- The correct method of handling, using and storing lifting tackle and the legal requirements applicable to the maintenance, inspection and marking for identification.
- How to carry out the planning and selection of cranes
- How to carry out the inspection of the personnel lifting equipment necessary for the management of lifting operations to the required standard as defined in BS7121 Code of Practice Part 1(General) and Part 3 2000
