If you are interested in helping people with a particular need such as disabled, the elderly or people with learning disabilities a career in health and social care could be for you. The course is designed with the help of employers to upskill the care workforce. Developing their knowledge of caring practices, current legislations and government policies to maintain privacy and dignity of all service users in a range of care settings.
It might be a case of supporting someone in their own home and assisting with daily living tasks or involve working with someone with complex care needs in a nursing or residential setting.

This course offers a wide variety of career options and pathways. In order to progress in your chosen role it is widely accepted that Apprenticeships/Work Based Learning is the option to demonstrate your skills and competencies to assist your progression through the career ladder.
There’s great opportunity for career development within this industry and you can progress to be a health professional in Nursing, Social Work, Support Work and other care professions.
This course will include training on job role responsibilities, duty of care, medication, communication skills, Health & Safety, confidentiality and Safeguarding. The nature of the course allows flexibility of selecting units that help develop knowledge and understanding of working in a care setting.
At Level 2 you should be able to use your knowledge, skills and ideas to complete clear tasks and tackle straightforward problems. This includes taking responsibility for completing tasks under guidance, while showing you can also think independently.
At Level 3 you should be able to use your knowledge, skills and judgment to initiate and complete semi-complex tasks and procedures (within limits). This includes being able to address problems with a level of independence. You also need to be aware of different viewpoints or approaches within your area of study or work
At Levels 5 you should be able to identify and use relevant understanding, methods and skills to address broadly-defined, complex problems. It includes taking responsibility for planning and developing courses of action for yourself and others. You also need to understand different perspectives, approaches or schools of thought and the reasoning behind them
