2. Course description Training an apprentice is a great way to mould individuals into the perfect employee for your business. Whether training a new or existing member of staff you have the ability to shape the development of an apprentice so that they understand the unique requirements of your business. Apprenticeships allow 16+ year olds to start work and earn a wage while learning new skills that lead to nationally recognised qualifications. Apprenticeships are designed with the help of employers in the industry so they offer a structured programme that takes apprentices through the skills needed to do a job well. Most of an apprentices training takes place on the job but they will also have to complete off-the-job training within college by day release. Instrument and Control Engineering Advanced Apprentices work towards a work-based NVQ qualification in addition to the nationally recognised BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Operations and Maintenance Engineering.
