Summary: This work based course develops the skills and knowledge needed to be effective within the marketing and communications sector.








Course description: All training on this course is delivered either in the workplace or at College, on a day release basis.
The Marketing Apprenticeship has been designed to address challenges for employers of all sizes across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. It will attract new talent into the marketing industry and help to up skill the workforce to meet employer skills priorities.
Intermediate apprentices are likely to work in job roles such as marketing assistant, market research assistant or events management assistant; undertaking a range of activities which might include collecting market research data, analysing competitor activity, contributing to marketing campaigns, planning and organising an event or exhibition and using a range of digital technologies.
The course will include:

learning about a variety of marketing services functions

the different methods used by organisations to inform customers about their products and services

the wide variety of opportunities and career pathways in this sector
As well as key marketing skills, students will become better team players, achieve higher productivity targets and make quicker response times.
For the full Apprenticeship, students will complete:

C&G Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Marketing (QCF)

C&G Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Marketing (QCF)

Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)

Functional or Key Skills in Maths, English and Information and Communications Technology (unless exempt).
Progression to the advanced level is conditional on the successful completion of the intermediate course. Students will complete a minimum of 421 guided learning hours, of which 30% (or 100 hours, whichever is greater) must be off-the-job during the first 12 months. The typical length of this work based learning programme is 12 months.









Entry requirements: Applicants for this course do not need to have achieved any formal qualifications. Apprentices who took their GCSEs more than five years ago and did not gain a C grade or above may need to take a literacy and numeracy test.
Apprenticeships are open to anyone over the age of 16, whether they have just left school or have been working for years. As an apprenticeship is a work based qualification, applicants should either have an employer who has agreed to support them, or be seeking an apprenticeship position through our vacancies list. Once you have secured a position with an employer your training can begin.









Objective: Over half a million people work in marketing occupations in England, with the industry playing an essential role in ensuring the success of public, private and not-for-profit organisations across all sectors of the economy. The marketing industry includes the marketing of traditional goods and services, conferences and events, market research and social marketing.
The marketing industry is extremely competitive and is driven by the need to develop both innovative and cost-effective methods of working whilst keeping pace with rapidly changing consumer preferences.
Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes designed around the needs of employers, which lead to nationally recognised qualifications.









Assessment: Training and assessments are mainly delivered in the workplace though some of the content can be delivered in college. Assessment is via a variety of methods, including case studies, assignments, practical assessments and projects.









Academic progression: Successful students may progress onto the Apprenticeship in Marketing (Advanced) or higher education.









Career progression: Students commonly go on to achieve continuation, development or promotion at work for instance in roles such as marketing co-ordinator, junior marketing executive, advertising executive or market researcher.
