About this course
An average of Grade D for 3 or more GCSEs or you will have successfully completed a level 1 programme. You may also be asked to demonstrate your commitment and skills in an interview. If you dont have the required entry qualifications there will be an opportunity for you to demonstrate your abilities to undertake the course.

Description of the Course
This Apprenticeship is designed as the first step for people who work with children from 0 to 16 (and their families). They make sure children are looked after, and kept active, happy and nourished. They also help children develop social and practical skills. Childrens care, learning and development can take place in a great variety of places: in daycare centres, crèches, playgroups, hospitals and community-based programmes, to name a few. As an Apprentice, the exact nature of your job role will depend on your employer, though youll be working in a supervised setting. You learn to keep children safe, methods of play that promote development and learning, and ways to build positive relationships with children.
Course content
The framework consists of:
CACHE NVQ Level 2 in CCLD
Level 2 Certificate in CCLD
Employment Rights and Responsibilities
Key Skills Level 1:
· Application of Number
· Communication
First Aid for Child Carers
Additional Content:
Mandatory Units include:
· Contribute to positive relationships
· Help to keep children safe
· Support children's development
· Use support to develop own practice in children's care, learning and development
· Prepare and maintain environments to meet children's needs
· Support children's play and learning
Assessment
Coursework, practical projects, assessment in the workplace, workshops, assignments and exam.
Who is the course for?
Anyone working a minimum of 16 hours per week paid employment in a childcare environment

What can I do after this course?
On successful completion of Level 2, students may progress onto a Level 3 Apprenticeship.
Other information
This course, at the moment, incurs no fees for 19+ and Adult Apprentices.
Car Park fee £1.00 per visit, stay subject to spaces being available.
