Within Art and Design students may select to be entered for Fine Art or continue to follow a broader Art, Crafts and Design course.

Art, Craft and Design (unendorsed). You have the opportunity of producing a diverse range of final outcomes. Disciplines include: painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, alternative media, fine art textiles, digital photography, advertising, illustration, packaging and typography.

Fine Art (endorsed). Drawing, printmaking, sculpture and alternative media.

2. Graphic Communication
Students will develop a knowledge and understanding of Adobe Photoshop, graphic image design, advertsing, packaging and typography.

Study visits
You will be encouraged to make individual study visits to galleries to enhance your understanding of practical work and aid your theoretical investigation. However, there are Department run trips to the Tate Gallery and City Gallery in Liverpool and Optional Trips to Amsterdam and London (Tate Modern, V&A and National Gallery).

Cost
Most trips will be available at the cost of a local bus fare, but some individual visits may cost £10-£15. There will also be a chance for you to take part in a field trip abroad, costing around £200.

Assessment
Work is assessed by a combination of exam and coursework portfolio.

Useful Supporting Courses
The course links very well with all other subjects. It offers students the chance to study from a wide variety of topics and provides an excellent grounding for careers in all aspects of Art & Design.
