Art and science are seen as polar opposites, one subjective and the other objective. This class will blur these cultural divides. We will discuss science as a method of creative expression and art as a method of inquiry. From Leonardo da Vinci to the Surrealists, Galileo to Einstein we will gain understanding of the commonalities of visual thinking inherent to both disciplines. This is a five-session course that will conclude in visit to Wellcome Collection for the final session.
This course is structured around lectures and class discussions exploring relevant concepts and historical questions, followed by a guided visit to a relevant London gallery.
