2. Course description This course consists of the following:  Year 1 - Full UAL Diploma equivalent to 1.5 'A' Levels Students will develop the knowledge, skills, understanding and confidence required to work independently and to direct their own learning. Students will cover a broad range of design elements that explore specialist areas including the following:      Advertising     Interior design     Product design     Design craft     Architecture     Drawing     Life Drawing     Photography     Ceramics     3D making     Digital design  Year 2 - Full Extended Diploma equivalent to 3 'A' Levels Students will have the opportunity to explore a design area of their choice, leading to their final major project and a portfolio of work for university or employment. Students will also be involved in an annual studio-based art show.  Projects often link to live briefs and competitions.

Entry requirements Students must have ONE of the following:      Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design, Fashion or Media at merit, plus GCSE English or Maths at grades A*-C     4 GCSEs at grades A*-C, including Art, Design or Design Technology and English or Maths     Equivalent qualifications - Functional Skills may be accepted in place of GCSE Maths and/or English  A portfolio of art & design work is also required. Applications from mature students are welcomed.  Adults 19+ who have industry experience BUT do not have the necessary qualifications can be invited in for interview. 4. Equipment required No equipment required 5. Assessment method Continuous with final assessment points at the end of year and year 2.
