The Art Department boasts good resources, which include large spacious studios to work in. There are impressive displays of students' work and students are encouraged to use these spaces during free periods.
What will I study?In the first year, you will follow a varied programme which includes a whole range of 2D and 3D fine art, graphics and mixed media work. In year two, your tutors will help you to tailor a course which best suits your interests and skills.

· Visual recording in art and design.
· Materials, techniques & processes in art & design.
· Ideas and concepts in art and design.
· Visual communication.
· Contextual influences in art and design.
Specialist units:
· Generating fine art ideas.
· Painting in fine art.
· Printmaking.
· Community art.
· Exploring specialist textile techniques.
· Sculpture.
· Print making and paper making in textiles.
· Graphics media techniques and

· Graphic image making.
· Computers in design.
· Professional practice.
· Information graphics.
How will I be assessed?You will be continuously assessed throughout your course. Your final major project exhibited at the end of your course will be a significant element of your assessed work.
What enrichment will there be?Activities can include:

· Competition work.
What could I do next?This course could lead you to a higher education degree in subjects such as interactive arts, fine art, photography, graphic design, advertising, textiles/fashion, fashion buying... the list is endless! You could also apply for an apprenticeship in a design studio.
