Entry Requirements ( typical offer )
200 UCAS points from at least two A2-levels (or equivalent) in any subjects.
Applicants should also have five GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent) in any subjects.
Applicants will be required to attend for interview and provide a portfolio of appropriate work. The quality of the portfolio/interview is the primary basis on which applicants are selected; therefore special consideration will be given to applicants without the above qualifications who have a strong portfolio.

About the course
The university has excellent facilities for all aspect of art and design practice including extensive studio space, the Innovation Factory working space and the unique Design Studios with the latest design and graphics software.
There is a good staff to student ratio with excellent technical support.
You will spend most of your time in an art or design studio environment where you will have the opportunity to develop your particular choice of disciplines and learn to work independently and with critical awareness. You will be encouraged to explore different art and design media and to develop links which cross the traditional art and design boundaries enabling you to learn and develop different approaches to your creative expression.
For your personal project, which you will carry out in your final year, you may specialise in one of your chosen disciplines or make a submission that consists of work in both of your options.
Talks are regularly given by guest speakers who are practitioners in the different art and design disciplines.
You will have the opportunity for regular visits to galleries and exhibitions as part of your studies and there are also overseas trips to key international art centres.
What you will learn
The BA (Hons) Art & Design is a broad-based learning experience that offers you structured experiences in your chosen medium of creative expression. Each programme will be individual, taking into account your personal interests, prior learning and career ambitions.
You will extend your creative and practical skills, build an understanding of the arts world and develop independent study skills and a critical awareness of your own and others’ work.
Through the Critical Studies modules you will enhance your knowledge of the contextual background to the different creative disciplines.
What you will study
Each programme is individual and will be negotiated with your personal tutor at all stages of your studies.
You will study the core modules of your selected disciplines in your first year. In your second and third years you will continue to study your chosen disciplines but you may choose to change focus and direction within your options, exploring different techniques and modes of creativity.
