Full day course teaching the basics of silver clay. Students are taught everything they need to go away and start making their own silver jewellery from silver clay. At the end of the day they will take home several pieces of jewellery, depending on size, and new skills they can use.

About this course

To show how it is possible to make silver jewellery at whatever level you want, from simple pendants etc to very detailed pieces of jewellery.

This is intended for complete beginners or those with a little experience wishing to improve their skills.

No previous experience in silver clay or jewellery making is required.

This course will give you the confidence to make lovely pieces of jewellery. Once you have learnt the basics, there are a wide variety of options to try.

I have Level 1 & 2 Diplomas in Art Clay Silver. A Certificate of Merit for a recent competition piece. One of my pieces of jewellery was included in the AMCAW Exceptional Work in Metal Clay 2020 Calendar.

Course programme

This is a one-day course in silver clay, aimed at the complete beginner or those with a little knowledge, wishing to improve. You will learn how to handle this flexible material and add texture and form, as well as adding layers and using silver clay paste to join them; you will learn about drying times and how to refine your piece and then the different ways of firing it. Once fired, you will learn how to finish and polish your final pieces of silver jewellery.

Additional information

There is a maximum of 4 in each class so plenty of opportunity to get personal tuition.  To book a larger group, please contact me via the website.

This was the best workshop I've ever been on, not just because I was fascinated in how to make silver jewellery in this way but also because Marianne was so friendly, informative and passionate as she demonstrated her skills.
