AS Level
Unit 1: Music Technology Portfolio 1 (Sequencing & Recording)
You will gain the ability to use sequencing software to develop a skeleton score into a fully developed arrangement. You will learn about capturing, processing and mixing music using microphones, mixers and software.
Unit 2: Listening & Analysing
You will study Popular Music Styles since 1910 and understand the Principles and Practice of Music Technology as it relates to the development of music over this time
A2 Level
Unit 3: Music Technology Portfolio 2
Building on study at AS level you use sequencing software, multi-track recording equipment and compositional techniques to produce an audio CD containing 3 tracks. You will learn about capturing, processing and mixing music using microphones, mixers and software.
Unit 4: Analysing and Producing
Students will be expected to demonstrate their knowledge of music and the principles of music technology through a series of written commentaries, manipulations and production tasks using material provided on an examination paper and recorded on an audio CD. You will develop the ability to use sequencing and recording software to create ideas, capture audio, and produce finished mixes. You will improve your aural skills and knowledge of musical theory through listening and analysis. Park Lane Campus There will be an expectation that all students undertake 4 AS in year 1 and 3 A2 in year 2.
Offers will be conditional on achieving 5 GCSEs at grade A*- C including English and Maths, plus 2 additional GCSEs at grade A*- C or 2 equivalent vocational qualifications, if recognised in Performance Tables.
This must also include:
GCSE Music at Grade C (or equivalent)
