Music AS/A Level

Who is the course for?
This course is suited for students wishing to develop their musical skills. It will broaden your understanding and knowledge of a variety of different musical styles and will equip you with analytical, compositional and performance skills.

What is the course about?
In this course you will explore core musical techniques including composition, aural perception, performance and analysis. It will provide flexibility and creativity which will enable you to develop your individual musical styles and tastes. You will also have the opportunity to take part in a number of solo and ensemble public performances.

Will I need anything else?
Students will need to buy scores from their teacher for appropriate areas of study.

How long & often do I attend?

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by a combination of practical course work, composition and written examination.

What opportunities will this lead to?
You could progress to a BA Hons degree in Music, Music Therapy or Classical Studies. Following this you could enter employment in performance, teaching, arts administration, journalism, librarianship, broadcasting and sound engineering.
